About my Mindful Dance Fitness Classes

All bodies can experience the Joy of Movement!

My classes are based on a movement practice called NIA technique. NIA stands for Now I Am. It encourages sensing your body in the now moment, while moving expressively to music.

NIA was created in the early 80’s to counteract the “no pain, no gain” philosophy of mainstream fitness culture. The founders blended dance, martial arts and the healing arts into a hybrid movement experience designed to create pleasure, not pain.

To heal, not to strain.

To calm your nervous system, not jack it up.

All sizes, genders and fitness levels are welcome.

My classes give you…

  • Joy

My classes create a feeling called Joy of Movement. We move because it feels good. Fitness is a by-product.

  • Mindfulness

Learn to sense your body while moving and immerse yourself in the present moment.

  • Play

My classes feel like play, not work. Let your inner child come out and have some fun!

  • Empowerment

Martial arts moves help you take charge of your body and your life.

  • Resilience

The mood boost and self-expression of my classes help you recharge your batteries and meet the challenges of life.

  • Self-Love

All adult bodies, identities and backgrounds welcome. No talent or experience needed. My classes are trauma-informed, size-inclusive and BIPOC, AAPI and LGBTQIA friendly.
